This blog sprang from my excess of creativity and my lack of money. Put those two things together, and you have a site dedicated to making it, faking it, and styling it---while on a budget, while studying for midterms.
To me, fashion has always been another medium of expression, like painting or writing or singing.
Also, fashion is amazing because it allows us to transform ourselves---one outfit change later, you can be a whole different person. That's why I don't think I have a set style or "look" yet, because I'm always exploring. (But I do know my limits--- I won't wear every trend, because some of them just look tacky).
Ultimately, I want to help make people look good. And of course, I want to look good too!
Every time I go shopping with my mom, the following exchange occurs:
Me: "This dress / scarf / nose-ring is so beautiful! I want it!"
Mom: "There are so many beautiful things in the world. You'll never own them all."
Me: "But, but..."
Mom: "It's just another beautiful thing. What makes it so special?"
And just like that, Mom shoots me down and prevents me from buying the coolest dress / scarf / nose-ring ever. And that's why her favorite phrase "another beautiful thing" is now the name of my blog.
Because, let's be real. My fashion/life blog is just one out of thousands. Just like that dress or scarf in the store, you don't have to commit to it. But even though I acknowledge that my website may seem like another disposable superficial thing, I do my darndest everyday to make sure that it's not.
That's why you'll find practical posts that help you get dressed in 5 minutes (college girls, this is for you!). And you'll also find important opinion posts about Taylor Swift, slut-shaming, and the double standards of society. And you'll definitely find posts making fun of fashion bloggers, because we are truly a ridiculous species.
I see my blog as more than just another beautiful thing, and I hope you will too.
Enjoy!
